Eating in Rome: L’Archetto

I’ve been to Rome so many times and have eaten at so many different places that it is hard to keep track of them all. You always know a good restaurant when it sticks out in your mind, and you really know it is good if, after a 2 year hiatus, you find yourself eating there yet again.

One of my favorite restaurants in Rome is a spaghetteria located a few blocks away from the Trevi Fountain called L’Archetto. If you don’t like spaghetti, then you will love it after you have eaten here. They have a menu with dozens and dozens of spaghetti dishes all prepared a different way. They have you traditional dishes as well as some invented ones. My favorite is the Bu-bu, and if memory serves me right, is spaghetti with olive oil, pine nuts, gorgonzola and arugula.. All of their dishes are superb, and it’s a popular place with the Romans. Prices are reasonable too and hardly expensive.

The restaurant may offer other kinds of dishes, but all I can remember from the visit are dozens and dozens of pasta dishes. From what I’ve found online from other traveler’s that their pizza is not too bad. In my opinion, no matter what you order you can’t go wrong here!

The restaurant is located at Via dell’Archetto 26, 00187 in Rome. I don’t know if you need reservations — I’ve always gone there with friends, and we’ve always managed to land a table. The place has a good atmosphere, and the tables are quite close together so it has a real cozy feel to it. If the weather is not too hot, try to get a seat downstairs which has an interesting ambiance. If you need to reach the restaurant by phone, they can reached at +39 06 67 89 064 (drop the first zero if you are dialing from overseas).
