Many American cities (if not all!) now can be viewed at street level on Google Maps. The same thing has now happened to Rome, Milan and Florence in Italy. Hopefully other Italian cities will soon follow, but it certainly makes virtual touring of the city much more interesting.
Also, if you’re planning your next trip to Rome and want to get a view of the different sites you’ll be seeing, now you can do this with ease. The photography of the streets of Rome is quite good. You can read more about the development here (it’s in Italian, though). I spent the past hour virtually “walking” the city! Also, don’t forget that walking directions are now available in many cities on Google Maps, and this feature is now available for Rome!
Ah, bella Roma!
